The Transient
The concept
“The Transient” is a concept album about the contradiction of having to define one’s own being through outward appearances. It tells of a journey between illusion and reality, carried by the wish to find a place within a web of self-deception.
The album exposes the fallacy that objectivity could devalue one’s own subjectivity – and the desperate search for a home in pain.
The protagonist, “The Transient”, is a silent observer of his own life. He experiences the world from a distance and dissects norms, values and role models with a cynical tongue to reveal their double standards and hypocrisy.
His pursuit of acceptance from the outside keeps him from recognising the truth of his own contradictory identity. Fear, frustration and loneliness shape a self-destructive personality that loses touch with reality and culminates in “King of Strays” in a deceptive superiority complex – appearing strong, yet deeply vulnerable.
“The Transient” is an introspective, dark journey through self-deception, identity conflicts and the absurdities of social norms. The album portrays the ambiguity of being in powerful musical images.
In short: “The Transient” is a concept album about the search for identity and acceptance, about self-deception, inner emptiness and the tension between inner and outer reality.
