BARREL wurde Ende 2020 von Schlagzeuger Robin und Gitarrist Thomas gegründet. Aus ersten Jam-Sessions entwickelte sich schnell eine Band, die rohe Metal-Energie mit Atmosphäre und Dynamik verbindet. Mit dem Einstieg von Sängerin Josie (Popakademie Mannheim) im Sommer 2022 gewann der Sound deutlich an Tiefe und Ausdruckskraft. Ihre wandelbare Stimme prägt die Spannweite der Band – von aggressivem Metal bis hin zu emotionalen Rockballaden. 2023 formierte sich das heutige Line-up mit Marcel an der Gitarre und Jegan am Bass. In dieser Besetzung entstand das Debütalbum „The Transient“ (Dezember 2025), ein Konzeptalbum, das die Gegensätze von Härte und Emotion sowie Schein und Sein des Lebens vereint.

BARREL was founded in late 2020 by drummer Robin and guitarist Thomas. What started as a series of jam sessions quickly evolved into a band that combines raw metal energy with atmosphere and dynamics. With the addition of vocalist Josie (Popakademie Mannheim) in the summer of 2022, the band’s sound gained significant depth and expressiveness. Her versatile voice defines the band’s musical range – from aggressive metal to emotional rock ballads.
In 2023, the current line-up was completed with Marcel on guitar and Jegan on bass. In this formation, the band created their debut album, The Transient (December 2025) – a concept album that brings together the contrasts between heaviness and emotion, as well as appearance and reality in life.
